For smaller market teams this translates into a minimum of an additional $200,000 or more in ticket sales for every single game the Yankees play in their city. Despite these many contributions the New York Yankees make to the sport of baseball globally, there are those that counter their management is myopic and can't see beyond any given season (Troutman, 1991). The approach that the Steinbrenner's used for getting former manager Joe Torre to resign, offering him 60% of his salary for a single year contract further angered those that do not like the Yankees to begin with as well. The owners' approach to management is considered by many to be autocratic and lacking in consideration. The Steinbrenners counter that baseball is a business and it is best to have ones' true intentions known.

Second, the arrogance that the New York Yankees and their blatant attempts to do what many call "buy a World Series" through very high salaries has not been effective in the last few years (Hyman, 2005). This move to "buy" a World Series as detractors say ironically shows how difficult...

The bottom line is that a World Series cannot be bought; it is earned by having the right players who compliment each others' strengths on the field and off. The Yankees organizations' history proves this point clearly.

For all the criticisms and complaints of the approaches and practices the New York Yankees take to create a winning baseball club every season, there are those longer-lasting and lasting contributions they make to the game and its brand globally as well. No one can question their performance as a brand, selling out every away game for the last few seasons and their contribution to advancing the sport and brand of baseball.
